Gifted 3rd Grade Teacher

My Why Story

I’m an Arizona native who loves living in the Valley of the Sun.  Though I lived in other states as a child and young adult, Arizona is home.   I have not always been a teacher.  My first career was as a computer control center manager for Ramada Inns.  My second was parenting my 3 daughters – a job I still love, even though they are all grown.  Their school experience led me to my teaching career.  I am passionate about my students and learning.  I believe that loving learning leads to loving life.  Every day with my students provides countless opportunities for us to explore and learn new things.  As a teacher, I am creator, facilitator and guide.  Using the state based standards, I love creating units of study that spark student curiosity and challenge them to make their own discoveries about the subjects we explore.

During my 18 years as a teacher, I have continued to grow and learn as a teacher.  I completed the required course work for a masters in language and literacy at ASU.  I’ve also taken advanced courses on understanding and teaching gifted students.  This professional development has helped me understand my students and provide learning opportunities for them that deepen our appreciation of ourselves and the world around us. Together we discover and do great things!
